Caleb is a conductor, coach, and multi-instrumentalist based in Los Angeles.

Caleb (he/him) was recently appointed Associate Conductor of Opera Modesto, where he will work as a central part of the music staff throughout the season bringing opera to California’s Central Valley. He is also the music director of the Hollywood Youth Orchestra, where he leads several ensembles in programming dedicated to cultivating community interest in classical music. He was music director of Pacific Opera Project’s recent production of The Pirates of Penzance which won Best Opera Performance in the 2022-23 San Francisco Classical Voice Audience Choice Awards. Since then, he has led several productions with POP including Scalia/Ginsburg, Trial by Jury, and Die Fledermaus. He is also the assistant conductor of Artes Vocales, a Pasadena-based choir.

In addition to POP and Opera Modesto, Caleb has also recently worked on music staff with Opera in the Ozarks, Opera Southwest, Opera Saratoga, and Savannah Opera.

Caleb received his BFA from Carnegie Mellon University in Vocal Performance. At Carnegie Mellon, he was the assistant conductor of the All University Orchestra for several years as well as music director of the orchestra’s chamber ensembles. In addition to being an accomplished opera singer and pianist, Caleb is a violinist and flutist – giving him a deeper understanding of the orchestra.

Caleb is a zealous advocate of both new music and new approaches to bringing music to communities. He was recently the music director for Opera Modesto’s world premiere production of Sherlock Holmes and the Case of the Fallen Giant, an American Lyric Theater Co-commission. He is also spear-heading a project entitled Transport: of a first of its kind double bill of Jake Heggie’s Another Sunrise and Handel’s Judas Maccabeus with The Why Collective in New York.

This year, Caleb will be returning to POP, Opera Modesto, and Savannah Opera while also playing for Enchanted Melodies, a production with City Lyric Opera in June 2024.

Caleb holds a Master’s in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music, and he was a member of the Artist Diploma program in Opera Coaching in 2021-22.
